Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the club will not be signing a backup striker for Erling Haaland this season. 
Guardiola acknowledged that this decision could be a mistake, saying, "Maybe it's a mistake, I don't know, but I like to work with not a long, long, long squad." He explained that he prefers managing a smaller group of players, as it ensures that everyone has an opportunity to play regularly, avoiding prolonged periods on the bench.
So far in the transfer window, Manchester City have signed Savinho who joined from Girona.
While Julián Álvarez has left for Atlético Madrid, Joao Cancelo has moved to Saudi Arabia Side Al Hilal and Kalvin Phillips signed for Ipswich on loan
