A significant rainstorm has inflicted severe damage on the federal highway connecting Kano and Maiduguri, with particular impact between Malori and Guskuri villages in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The intense rainfall on August 9 led to widespread flooding that created a substantial crater in the middle of the road, disrupting traffic and forcing motorists to seek alternative routes.
Governor Bala Muhammad of Bauchi State conducted an on-site inspection to assess the extent of the damage. During his visit, he underscored the critical role of this highway as a key conduit linking Nigeria’s Northwest and Northeast regions. The governor's assessment highlighted the road's significance for regional connectivity and economic activities, stressing the need for urgent repairs to restore the vital transportation link.
