Tragic Accident Claims Life of Deputy Governor of Yobe State’s 10-Year-Old Grandson, Lawan Idris Ahmad, Due to Severe Burns

Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, is mourning the loss of his 10-year-old grandson, Lawan Idris Ahmad, who tragically passed away due to a domestic accident.

According to a statement issued by Hussaini, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, the incident occurred on August 6, 2024. Young Ahmad accidentally spilled hot water on himself, resulting in severe third-degree burns. The child was immediately rushed to the University Teaching Hospital in Damaturu for emergency medical treatment.

Despite the prompt medical attention, Ahmad's injuries proved fatal. He passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the hospital. The loss has deeply affected the Gubana family and the wider community.

In accordance with Islamic customs, a funeral prayer was held later that day at the residence of the Deputy Governor. The ceremony was led by Ustas Hudu Mohammed Yusuf, the Chief Imam of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Center Damaturu. The prayer was attended by family, friends, and members of the local community, who gathered to pay their respects and offer their condolences during this difficult time.
