Vybz Kartel and his fiancée, Sidem Oztürk, were greeted by a large crowd of fans upon his release from prison on Wednesday, July 31.
In his first social media post following his acquittal on murder charges by the Court of Appeal, Kartel and Oztürk were captured sharing a kiss as he exited the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre in downtown Kingston.
“Me and Wifey #AMOUT,” Kartel captioned the video.
At 48 years old, Kartel is a father of seven, with five children from five different women. His sons include Likkle Vybz, Likkle Addi, and Aiko from his relationship with Shorty, as well as Shahiem, who lives in the US and is mentioned in the track "About Us" (2020), and a fifth son named Kahieme. His eldest daughter, Adi’Anna ‘Girl Boss’ Palmer, is from his relationship with entrepreneur Sherika Todd, while his youngest daughter is Amani.
In 2014, Kartel and three other men were convicted for the 2011 murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. Earlier this year, the UK-based Privy Council overturned their convictions and sent the case back to the Court of Appeal to decide if a new trial should be held.
