The suspect was paraded alongside others arrested for various crimes at the police headquarters in Benin City on Friday, September 6, 2024.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Moses Yamu, Jonah was arrested on September 1, 2024, after a police surveillance patrol stopped a motorcycle conveying him and two others. During interrogation, a phone found in their possession revealed a connection to a missing person, Gazali Hassan, whose motorcycle they had stolen after killing him.

Further investigation led to the recovery of the corpse, a hammer, and a knife used in the crime. Jonah confessed to being the ring leader and meeting other suspects in Benin prison, where they formed a new syndicate. Additional suspects were arrested, and they confessed to receiving a ransom of N15 million for the train station kidnapping, among other crimes.

In an interview, Jonah admitted to providing logistics for the suspects and receiving N2 million as his share of the proceeds. "I am a motorcycle rider, and I was contacted by Amenvbagbe Ogelegbe to take him and others to the train station for kidnapping," he said. "He promised to pay me. So, I took them there. After everything, he brought N2 million for me and said that was my share of the proceeds."
