Ilkay Gundogan reportedly left Barcelona feeling disappointed with the behavior of two of his former teammates, according to sources in Spain.
Bar Canaletes reports that Gundogan found fault with club captain Marc-Andre ter Stegen and his former Borussia Dortmund colleague, Robert Lewandowski.
Journalist Joan Fontes shared on a Spanish-language radio program that the 33-year-old midfielder was particularly dissatisfied with Ter Stegen's reserved personality. Gundogan believed that the goalkeeper should have been a more vocal presence in the dressing room, especially during challenging times.
Ter Stegen's tendency to keep to himself was reportedly difficult for Gundogan to work with. Additionally, Gundogan was disappointed with Lewandowski's attitude, feeling that the striker did not adequately support the younger players at the club.
After a season at Barcelona, Gundogan has returned to Manchester City. He rejoined the club on a one-year deal, with an option for an additional year. Gundogan expressed his happiness to be back at City, highlighting his respect for manager Pep Guardiola and his excitement to work with his former teammates again.
