Virgil van Dijk appeared to snub Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee during an awkward moment while the pair were on international duty. This incident occurred as the Netherlands began their Nations League campaign with a 5-2 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday.
Van Dijk, who captained the Dutch side, was observed shaking hands with all his teammates in the tunnel before the match, but notably avoided Zirkzee. The two did not acknowledge each other, leading to speculation that their club rivalry might be the cause.
This international fixture came just six days after Liverpool's emphatic win over Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League. Van Dijk, who also captains Liverpool, faced Zirkzee, a recent United signing, in that match. While both players started the game, only Van Dijk left Old Trafford content with the result.
