Martin Zubimendi recently shared insights into his decision to turn down a move to Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

Despite the Premier League club's strong interest, Zubimendi chose to remain with his lifelong team, Real Sociedad.
In an interview with Marca, Zubimendi emphasized that his choice was made without any external pressure. "I didn't have any pressure from my close circle. My friends are clear that whatever I decide, it will be the best. There is no pressure at all," he explained. This supportive environment allowed him to make a decision based on his own aspirations and loyalty to Real Sociedad.
Liverpool had been eager to sign the talented midfielder, with negotiations reportedly nearing completion. However, the 25-year-old decided to stay in San Sebastián, where he has become a pivotal player for Real Sociedad. His current contract with the club extends until June 2027.
Zubimendi's dedication to Real Sociedad is evident in his on-field performances. Throughout his career with the club, he has made 192 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists. His contributions have been instrumental in helping Real Sociedad compete at the top levels of Spanish football.
The decision to remain at Real Sociedad also reflects Zubimendi's deep connection to the club. "Real Sociedad for me is my life, I think I have spent half my life there," he said. "A lot of what I am is part of La Real, it is my life." This strong bond ultimately influenced his decision to reject Liverpool's offer.
