Toke Makinwa reflects on her failed move to Los Angeles in order to break into Hollywood

Media personality Toke Makinwa recently shared her aspirations of becoming a Hollywood actress. She revealed that three years ago, she relocated to Los Angeles with the ambition of breaking into the movie industry. Confident in her decision, she began taking acting classes, believing it was the right step forward.

However, Makinwa explained that divine timing played a role in her journey. She felt that God indicated it was not yet her time to succeed in Hollywood, providing her with the opportunity to grow in Nigeria instead. Despite the challenges and sacrifices associated with being an actress in Nigeria, she remains dedicated to her craft.

Reflecting on her journey, Makinwa expressed gratitude for her growth and the diverse roles she has undertaken. She acknowledged the sacrifices made in pursuit of her dreams, including missing out on personal and social opportunities. Her commitment to her acting career remains unwavering.

In her own words, Makinwa stated, "Three years ago, I moved to LA with the thought of becoming the next Nigerian to break into the world of acting out there. I was so sure it was the next move, started taking classes too. God said not yet. But gave me room to grow back home. I look back now and I’m thankful it didn’t happen because I was not half as confident or even good or ready for the job. Today I’ve grown, I’m still learning but I’m much more confident. The dream is not wrong, the timing must be right to protect you."
