Victor Osimhen agrees personal terms with Galatasaray on season long loan

Victor Osimhen, the prolific Nigerian striker, has agreed to join Galatasaray on a one-year loan from Napoli.

This move comes after a tumultuous summer transfer window, during which Osimhen's anticipated departure from Napoli failed to materialize. Despite interest from several top clubs, including Chelsea and Al-Ahli, negotiations fell through, leaving Osimhen in a precarious position at Napoli.

Osimhen's situation at Napoli became increasingly strained as the transfer window progressed. Antonio Conte, Napoli's manager, confirmed that Osimhen would not be reintegrated into the first team, effectively sidelining the striker for the season. Conte's decision was influenced by the club's inability to secure a transfer for Osimhen, which led to the acquisition of Romelu Lukaku as his replacement.

In light of these developments, Osimhen has requested a significant reduction in his release clause. Initially set at €130 million, Osimhen is now pushing for the clause to be lowered to €75 million. This adjustment aims to facilitate a smoother transfer process in the future, making it more feasible for interested clubs to negotiate his release from Napoli.

The loan move to Galatasaray offers Osimhen a fresh start and an opportunity to regain his form and confidence. Galatasaray, a club with a rich history and a strong squad, provides a suitable platform for Osimhen to showcase his talents. The Turkish giants will cover Osimhen's wages for the duration of the loan, and while there is no option to buy included in the deal, it allows all parties to reassess their positions at the end of the season.
