Yobe State Under Siege: Suspected Boko Haram Militants Target Vigilante Camp in Buni Yadi Town

The Yobe State town of Buni Yadi has been targeted in a recent attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents. This latest incident occurred on Thursday, following a tragic event in Mafa ward, Tarmuwa LGA, where 34 individuals lost their lives.


According to reports, the insurgents launched a coordinated assault on a vigilante camp situated at Sabon Fegi, in close proximity to the government lodge and local government secretariat. Confirming the incident, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the State Police Command, stated, "The terrorists approached on foot, stormed the town, and initiated indiscriminate gunfire."

Captain Shehu Muhammad, Assistant Director Public Relations Unit Operation Lafiya Dole Sector 2 Damaturu, also verified the attack, noting that the prompt intervention of security forces successfully thwarted the insurgents' objectives. The swift response of the troops undoubtedly prevented further casualties and minimized the damage.
