Basketmouth Urges Up-and-Coming Comedians to Refrain from On-Stage Begging

Nigerian comedian, actor, and singer Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth, recently shared his thoughts on the comedy industry during an appearance on the "Creativitea podcast" with Lynda.

Basketmouth emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of comedy, advising emerging comedians to refrain from soliciting money while performing on stage.

"It gets to a point where you start learning from the younger ones. I'm learning from these guys, but e dey body," he stated. "It's their time, but I will tell all my age group not to work with their mate, they should collaborate and get these young guys to share their platform with them."

He continued, "As a comedian, I saw these new guys coming up, you guys can stop begging for money on stage, just go on stage and perform, crack your jokes and leave quietly. I'm pissed off with how you guys have watered down the art. If you want to beg, why not go to the street?"
