Nigerian musician Jaywon has sparked controversy after sharing photos from his visit to the graveside of late music icon, Sound Sultan, who passed away on July 11, 2021.

Sound Sultan, born Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi on November 27, 1976, died from complications related to Angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, while receiving chemotherapy in New Jersey, United States.

Jaywon took to social media to honor Sound Sultan's memory, referring to him as his mentor. He wrote: "At the resting place of a mentor, where wisdom, guidance, and inspiration now lay in eternal peace. Gone, but forever a part of us. Keep resting #soundsultan @soundsultan forever. However, Jaywon's decision to share photos beside the grave has drawn criticism from some online users. Many have accused him of seeking attention and publicity, rather than paying a genuine tribute.
