Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has left his position as the club's Under-18s coach to take up a first-team coaching role at Norwich City. This marks a significant step in Wilshere's coaching career, having retired from playing in 2022 and subsequently joining Arsenal's youth coaching setup.

Wilshere, who amassed 197 senior appearances for Arsenal and scored 10 goals, has been a pivotal figure at the club. After hanging up his boots, he transitioned into coaching, leading Arsenal's Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup final in his debut full season.

Reflecting on his departure, Wilshere said, "As everyone knows, Arsenal is and always will be part of who I am, and the club means so much to me. However, this opportunity has come at the right time to progress my coaching career within a first-team environment."

Norwich City's sporting director, Ben Knapper, formerly of Arsenal, expressed his enthusiasm for Wilshere's arrival. "We are delighted to welcome Jack to Norwich City. His personality, knowledge, and experience will be huge assets for us."

Wilshere's move to Norwich signals his transition from youth football to the senior game. "When I met Ben and Johannes, I was really impressed by their vision and plans for the club. I've heard a lot about the environment around the club, and the facilities at the training centre are first class," Wilshere added.

Per Mertesacker, Arsenal's academy director, also commented on Wilshere’s departure, expressing both sadness and pride. "Jack's development as a coach over the past two seasons has been really impressive. Jack has represented Arsenal in the best possible way, both as a player and in his role as an academy coach."
