Nkechi Blessing, a popular figure in the Yoruba film industry, has taken a significant step towards reconciliation after a prolonged feud.
A viral video has circulated online, showing the actress pleading for forgiveness at The Celebrities Entertainment Awards in Canada.
The controversy stemmed from a heated social media exchange between Nkechi Blessing and colleague Lege Miami, resulting in their suspension from the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) in 2021. While Lege Miami offered a sincere apology, Nkechi Blessing continued to exchange insults, further isolating herself from her peers.
The rift deepened when Nkechi Blessing criticized Lege Miami's support for Baba Ijesha, who faced serious allegations of child sexual assault. Her refusal to reconcile led to estrangement from the industry.
In a surprising reversal, Nkechi Blessing sought forgiveness from TAMPAN at the Canadian awards ceremony. Overcome with emotion, she knelt and wept, begging for pardon. TAMPAN president Mr. Latin, Odunlade Adekola, and other colleagues witnessed her apology, moved by her vulnerability.
