The appeal was filed by Najeem Usman Yasin, Tajudeen Agbede, and others, who were seeking to overturn a March 2024 ruling by the National Industrial Court that recognized Baruwa's presidency. The Court of Appeal upheld this decision, declaring the appeal without merit and awarding N100,000 in costs against the appellants.
Baruwa, in a statement after the ruling, condemned the self-inauguration of Musiliu Akinsanya (MC Oluomo) as NURTW president, labeling it a violation of judicial authority. He argued that it contradicted both the March and November 2024 court rulings, which prohibited interference with the Baruwa-led executive.
In addition to the legal victory, Baruwa reiterated that the NURTW operates under a legal constitution that outlines election procedures, and called on law enforcement authorities to enforce the judgment to maintain peace and order.
