Kaoru Mitoma gave Brighton the lead in the 29th minute with a well-placed header from Tariq Lamptey's precise cross.

Southampton equalized in the 59th minute when Flynn Downes calmly converted a rebound following a blocked Adam Armstrong shot.

Despite dominating early phases, Brighton struggled with finishing, including a missed chance from Georginio Rutter. A late Cameron Archer goal for Southampton was disallowed by VAR due to offside.

Brighton & Hove Albion are currently in second place in the Premier League with 23 points from 13 matches and a goal difference of +5. They are tied on points with Manchester City but have scored more goals. Brighton remains a strong contender for European qualification this season.

Southampton, on the other hand, sit at the bottom of the table in 20th place with just 5 points from 13 games and a goal difference of -15. They are five points away from safety and continue to face challenges in maintaining their Premier League status.
