Southampton equalized in the 59th minute when Flynn Downes calmly converted a rebound following a blocked Adam Armstrong shot.
Despite dominating early phases, Brighton struggled with finishing, including a missed chance from Georginio Rutter. A late Cameron Archer goal for Southampton was disallowed by VAR due to offside.
