Ruud van Nistelrooy Appointed Leicester City Manager Through to 2027
Leicester City Football Club has officially confirmed the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new manager. The former Dutch international striker has signed a contract that will keep him in charge until June 2027.
Van Nistelrooy, celebrated for his exceptional goal-scoring record, previously served as interim manager of Manchester United. His brief tenure, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag in October 2024, saw him oversee four matches, including a notable pair of victories against Leicester City.
The decision to appoint Van Nistelrooy follows Leicester City's parting of ways with Steve Cooper, who was let go after a challenging start to the 2024-25 season. Cooper’s reign lasted just five months, with the club sitting one point above the relegation zone at the time of his dismissal.
Van Nistelrooy's first match in charge of Leicester will take place on Saturday, November 30, 2024, when the team faces Brentford. There is considerable anticipation surrounding his managerial debut, with supporters and analysts keen to witness how his expertise will influence the team’s fortunes in the coming years.
