Barcelona coach Hansi Flick offered an encouraging update on young defender Pau Cubarsí after he was forced off the pitch due to an injury in the club's 5-2 UEFA Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.
Following the match, Flick reassured fans, saying, "Cubarsí is fine, he has a scar. He is young and will recover." He added with humor, "When you get older, stitches are not too good, but he will recover. He is very young."
Cubarsí suffered a kick to the face early in the second half, leaving him with a significant gash that required ten stitches. Despite the injury, Flick remains optimistic about the young defender's recovery, noting that he could return to action soon, possibly with a facial shield until the wound fully heals.
The match itself saw Barcelona dominate Red Star Belgrade with a commanding 5-2 scoreline. Iñigo Martínez opened the scoring in the 13th minute, followed by two goals from Robert Lewandowski in the 43rd and 53rd minutes.
Raphinha added another in the 55th minute, while Fermín López rounded off the victory with a goal in the 76th minute. Red Star Belgrade replied with strikes from Silas Katompa Mvumpa (27th minute) and Milson (84th minute), but were ultimately outclassed.
