Cooper, who joined Leicester in June 2024, oversaw a difficult period, with the club sitting in 16th place at the time of his dismissal. Their most recent results included a 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on November 10, 2024, and a 2-1 loss to Chelsea, compounding the pressure on Cooper.
Cooper’s managerial career in the Premier League includes significant roles at Swansea City and Nottingham Forest before his move to Leicester. At Swansea, Cooper led the team to the playoff final in the 2020-2021 season, although they were defeated by Brentford. His success at Nottingham Forest was notable, taking the club from the Championship to the Premier League, where they finished 16th in their first season back. However, his tenure at Forest ended in December 2023 following a series of poor results.
Alongside Cooper's departure, assistant managers Alan Tate and Steve Rands also left the club. Ben Dawson, Danny Alcock, and Andy Hughes will take over first-team duties as Leicester search for a permanent replacement.
