Nigeria’s Super Eagles were held to a 1-1 draw by Benin in a tightly contested Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifying match on November 14, 2024. 
The game saw the hosts take the lead in the 16th minute through Masiru Tijani, who converted after a well-placed assist from Jodel Olaitan.
Nigeria fought back in the second half, with star forward Victor Osimhen scoring an equalizer in the 81st minute, assisted by Moses Simon.
This result left Nigeria at the top of Group D with 11 points, while Benin currently holds the second position. With this draw, Nigeria secures their place in the 2025 AFCON, needing just a point to advance. The Super Eagles will now turn their focus to their next game against Rwanda on November 21, 2024, in Uyo, Nigeria
