Victor Osimhen has now equaled Segun Odegbami’s record of 23 goals for Nigeria, making him the joint-second all-time top scorer for the Super Eagles. 
This milestone was achieved in Nigeria's 1-1 draw against Benin Republic on November 14, 2024, in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Osimhen's goal, assisted by Moses Simon in the 81st minute, came after Benin’s M. Tijani had given his side the lead in the 16th minute.
With 23 goals in 37 appearances, Osimhen is just 14 goals behind Nigeria’s all-time top scorer, Rashidi Yekini, who holds the record with 37 goals in 58 games. Here is an updated list of Nigeria's top five all-time goal scorers:
1. Rashidi Yekini - 37 goals in 58 caps
2. Victor Osimhen - 23 goals in 37 caps (joint with Segun Odegbami)
3. Segun Odegbami - 23 goals in 46 caps
