Barcelona's Pau Cubarsí Returns to Training with a Protective Mask After Facial Injury
Barcelona’s young defender, Pau Cubarsí, has resumed training with a protective mask following a serious facial injury sustained during the UEFA Champions League match against Red Star Belgrade. The incident took place in the 63rd minute of the match when Cubarsí, attempting to clear the ball with a header, was struck in the face by the boot of Red Star’s Uroš Spajić. The powerful impact caused a deep cut on Cubarsí’s right cheek, requiring immediate medical attention and ten stitches to treat the wound.
Despite the severity of the injury, the 17-year-old has displayed remarkable resilience. He is back in training, wearing a protective mask to shield his healing injury. Barcelona’s head coach, Hansi Flick, confirmed that Cubarsí is recovering well and remains in high spirits, showing no signs of being deterred by the setback.
Barcelona is set to face Real Sociedad in La Liga this weekend, with the match scheduled for Sunday, November 10th, at the Reale Arena. The team will be looking to extend their strong form and secure another victory in the league.
