Expressing a desire to remarry, Makinwa clarified that contrary to what some might believe, she does not "hate men" or bash them as a feminist. Instead, she sees marriage as "one of the most beautiful institutions." Reflecting on her past experience with marriage, she described it as being like "the relationship between siblings," where initial excitement gives way to frustration after some time.
Makinwa candidly shared, "There were days when I would rush home to tell my ex-husband everything I had been through. And there were days when I woke up in the morning, I said, 'God, you must hate me for me to marry this idiot. This is not life; this must be hell.'” Despite the struggles she faced in her marriage to Maje Ayida, which ended in 2017 due to allegations of infidelity, she still holds the institution of marriage in high esteem. "I still fancy the institution," she added, expressing hope that she will find love again.
Makinwa noted that although she is not actively seeking a new partner, she is open to remarrying when the time is right, saying, "Maybe it’s not God’s time yet. Whenever he is ready, I just hope I am not wrinkled".
