Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has expressed his disappointment over Marcus Rashford’s public declaration of his desire to leave the club without consulting him first.
Amorim remarked, “If this were me, I would probably speak with the manager,” emphasizing the importance of internal communication.
Rashford made his intentions known shortly after being left out of the squad for the Manchester derby last week. Amorim acknowledged that the decision was not due to disciplinary reasons but did not provide further details. The omission was notable as United secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester City during that fixture.
Despite Rashford’s announcement, Amorim believes there is still a future for him at Manchester United. Amorim noted, “There are challenges here that Rashford can still address and perhaps find the new challenge he is seeking.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup quarter-final this midweek. Amorim has not confirmed whether Rashford will be included in the squad, stating that decisions will be based on players' training performances and attitudes.
Rashford, a product of Manchester United’s youth system, has been with the club since the age of seven, making over 426 appearances and scoring 138 goals. His recent statements have sparked speculation about his future, with reports linking him to potential moves to clubs like Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.
