Despite Mbappé missing his second penalty in a week during Real Madrid's 2-1 defeat to Athletic Club on Wednesday night, Ancelotti insisted, "No changes. Our penalty shooters are Mbappé, Vini and Jude. Whoever shoots is good."
Mbappé's missed penalty came in the 68th minute, with Athletic goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala saving his shot. This followed a similar miss against Liverpool last week. Reflecting on the situation, Ancelotti said, "I haven't spoken to [Mbappé], but obviously he's sad and disappointed. We have to carry on."
Despite the recent struggles, Ancelotti remains supportive of Mbappé, stating, "He isn't at his best level, but we have to give him time to adapt. He's scored 10 goals, and he's working to do better."
The defeat leaves Real Madrid four points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona, with a game in hand.
