Kylian Mbappé and Fede Valverde Take Responsibility After Real Madrid's Defeat to Athletic Bilbao
In a dramatic turn of events, Real Madrid suffered a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao last night in La Liga. The match, which was fiercely contested, saw Real Madrid fall behind early in the second half when Alex Berenguer scored for Athletic Bilbao. Despite a valiant effort to equalize, Jude Bellingham's goal was not enough to secure a win.
The spotlight, however, was on Kylian Mbappé, who missed a crucial penalty in the 68th minute. Reflecting on the match, Mbappé took to Instagram to share his thoughts: "Bad result. A big mistake in a match where every detail counts. I take full responsibility for it. A difficult moment but it’s the best time to change this situation and show who I am."
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged the team's disappointment but remained optimistic about their prospects: "He is at a lot more than just one per cent [of his potential], but he’s not at his best. However, we have to give him time to adapt [to Real Madrid]. He has scored 10 goals and is working hard to improve and to do better."
Despite the setback, both Mbappé and Valverde are determined to bounce back and prove their worth to the team and their fans.
