Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided the latest updates on the injuries of key players Reece James and Wesley Fofana. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the team's clash with Southampton, Maresca shared his thoughts on their recovery timelines.
"Reece James is getting better, but it will still take a few weeks for him to be back," Maresca said. James has been dealing with a hamstring injury since the international break, marking his seventh separate hamstring issue since the 2021/22 campaign.
As for Wesley Fofana, Maresca revealed that the French defender will also be out for a few weeks. "We lose him for 10 or 12 games," Maresca added, expressing the significant impact of Fofana's absence on the team.
Maresca continued, "We will have to wait a bit and hope for some news in the next days, but for sure, he will be out for the next weeks."
Both players' injuries have been a major setback for Chelsea, who are currently navigating a hectic fixture schedule. The team will need to rely on their depth and tactical adjustments to cope with the loss of these influential defenders.
