Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has provided an update on goalkeeper Alisson Becker's recovery from his recent hamstring injury, stating, "He's getting there. It might take a few more days, but he's getting closer and closer."Alisson, who has been sidelined since October 5th following his injury during the match against Crystal Palace, is expected to return "before the end of December".
Slot emphasized the importance of Alisson being fully fit before returning to the starting lineup, acknowledging the impressive performances of his deputy, Caoimhin Kelleher, who has kept five clean sheets in the last ten games. "We are just waiting for the moment Alisson is completely fit because Caoimhin is doing too well to put Alisson in goal if he's only at 50%," Slot added.
Liverpool's recent form has been strong, with a 2-0 victory over Manchester City last weekend. The team will look to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
