In a commanding performance, Chelsea secured a dominant 5-1 victory over Southampton in the Premier League clash at St Mary's Stadium on Wednesday night.

The result sees Chelsea move up to second place in the league standings, now just seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

Chelsea started the match strongly with Axel Disasi heading in an Enzo Fernandez corner in the 7th minute. Southampton responded quickly through Joe Aribo, who equalized just four minutes later.

However, Chelsea regained the lead through Christopher Nkunku's clinical finish in the 17th minute, followed by Noni Madueke's strike just before half-time.

The second half saw Southampton reduced to 10 men when captain Jack Stephens was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair, leading to a VAR review.

Chelsea capitalized on their numerical advantage with Cole Palmer scoring in the 76th minute and Jadon Sancho adding a late fifth goal.
