Manchester City is reportedly considering a move to acquire Paul Pogba, the French midfielder and former Manchester United star, despite his current suspension from professional football.

Pogba, 31, tested positive for dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), a banned substance, in August 2023. Initially handed a four-year suspension, his ban was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in October 2024, accepting his argument that the ingestion was unintentional. This reduction allows Pogba to resume training in January 2025 and return to competitive play by March 2025.

Following the doping scandal, Pogba and Juventus mutually agreed to terminate his contract, effective November 30, 2024. Juventus expressed their best wishes for his professional future, while Pogba reflected on his time with the club, expressing gratitude towards the fans and anticipation for the next chapter in his career.

Despite his history with Manchester United, Manchester City is exploring the possibility of signing Pogba to strengthen their midfield. Manager Pep Guardiola is seeking reinforcements following Rodri's ACL injury, with Pogba being one of the potential candidates. However, Pogba has expressed hesitation about returning to England, indicating a preference for continuing his career in leagues such as LaLiga, Serie A, or the Bundesliga.

As a free agent eligible to play from March 2025, Pogba's next move remains a subject of speculation, with various clubs reportedly interested in securing his services.
