Memphis Depay, the Dutch forward currently playing for Corinthians in Brazil, made a surprise visit to Kumasi, Ghana, where he paid a courtesy call to the Adako Jachie training base of Asante Kotoko. 
This visit occurred ahead of Kotoko’s crucial league game against Bibiani GoldStars on Friday, creating an electric atmosphere among fans and the technical team alike.
Depay was warmly received by the Kotoko technical team, with whom he held a discussion. The Dutch star expressed his admiration for the history of the Porcupine Warriors.
Earlier today, Depay joined in the fun by playing football on a local sand pitch, bringing excitement to the community.
In an interview with Flashscore, Memphis Depay explained his decision to join Brazil's Corinthians, highlighting a cultural connection with Ghana, a country he frequently visits and supports through various projects. He stated, "The people in Brazil are like Ghana, very enthusiastic, energized people. The country is beautiful and they have good food. The training facility is amazing."
Depay also paid a courtesy call on Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House on Thursday.
Additionally, he visited Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the revered king of the Ashanti Kingdom, further strengthening his ties with Ghana.
