Wolves Appoint Vítor Pereira as New Head Coach on 18-Month Contract
Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the appointment of Vítor Pereira as their new head coach, signing an 18-month deal. The 56-year-old replaces Gary O’Neil, who was dismissed following a challenging start to the season.
Currently positioned 19th in the Premier League with nine points from 16 games, Wolves are battling to escape the relegation zone. Pereira, known for his managerial stints with top clubs such as FC Porto, Olympiacos, and Fenerbahçe, will take on the task of improving the team's fortunes.
The club's chairman, Jeff Shi, expressed optimism about Pereira’s ability to turn things around. In a statement, Shi said, "We are excited to have Vítor on board and believe his experience will be crucial in revitalizing our season."
Pereira's debut as head coach will be against Leicester City in what promises to be a pivotal match for the club. Wolves are also expected to back him in the January transfer window, focusing on bolstering the squad to address key weaknesses.
The Portuguese coach faces a tough challenge but has a track record of delivering results under pressure, making his appointment a significant step for Wolves in their fight for Premier League survival.
