Hakim Ziyech, the Moroccan international currently with Galatasaray, has expressed profound dissatisfaction with the club's management and coaching staff, indicating his intention to depart during the upcoming January transfer window.
In a candid interview with journalist Haluk Yurekli, Ziyech stated, "Galatasaray is over for me. I told them I want to leave in January. They don't even ask me anything anymore; I do what I want. I've never seen a coach as bad as Okan Buruk." He further remarked, "Can Galatasaray win the title? I don't care at all... Leave me alone. Whatever happens, I regret coming here at the start of the season. I just want to leave here in January."
Ziyech's tenure at Galatasaray began with a loan move from Chelsea in August 2023, which was later made permanent in June 2024. The initial loan deal was valued at €3.6 million, with an option for a permanent transfer upon meeting certain conditions. Upon finalizing the permanent move, Ziyech agreed to a salary of €2.85 million for the 2024-2025 season, with the same amount stipulated for the 2025-2026 season if the contract were extended.
Since joining Galatasaray, Ziyech has participated in 23 matches, contributing six goals and two assists. However, his recent performances have been underwhelming, with only five league appearances this season and no goals scored. Notably, he missed a clear scoring opportunity in a match against Bodrum, which drew criticism from fans and media alike.
Reports suggest that Stade Rennais, under coach Jorge Sampaoli, is interested in acquiring Ziyech during the January transfer window. A move to the French club would allow Ziyech to continue competing in Europe and gain experience in Ligue 1.
Ziyech's public criticism of Galatasaray's management and coaching is expected to lead to disciplinary action from the club. His outspoken remarks and desire to leave in January have cast uncertainty over his future with the Turkish side.
