This milestone was officially confirmed on December 31 when the Trademark Official Gazette granted the global music icon exclusive rights to the name.
The dispute began in 2012, shortly after Blue Ivy's birth, when Beyoncé and Jay-Z sought to trademark the name to protect it from being exploited by others. Their efforts to secure the trademark were challenged by a clothing store in Wisconsin and a wedding planner, both of whom had used the name "Blue Ivy" for their businesses. Despite this, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ultimately ruled in favor of Beyoncé, stating that the businesses' use of the name was unlikely to cause confusion.
This legal victory ensures that Beyoncé can now use the trademark for a range of goods and services, potentially laying the foundation for Blue Ivy's future endeavors.
