Ex-Arsenal Player Cédric Soares Joins São Paulo on Short-Term Deal

Ex-Arsenal right-back Cédric Soares has signed a short-term contract with São Paulo FC.

The 33-year-old Portuguese defender has agreed to an initial three-month deal with the Brazilian club, which includes an option for extension depending on his performance during this period.

Cédric, who has been without a club since his contract with Arsenal ended in mid-2024, has been training at São Paulo's Barra Funda facility to maintain his fitness. Head coach Luis Zubeldía has noted that while Cédric is physically ready to play, he will need match practice to reach his optimal level.

This short-term agreement mirrors the previous arrangement with defender Sabino, offering São Paulo the opportunity to extend the contract based on Cédric's contributions. The move is aimed at strengthening the club's defensive lineup as they continue their campaign.

Cédric was recently seen attending São Paulo's Paulista Championship victory against Guarani at Morumbi Stadium, signaling his commitment to integrating with the team.
