Riqui Puig, the LA Galaxy midfielder, has been candidly sharing his recovery journey following a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.
The injury occurred during the Western Conference Final against the Seattle Sounders on November 30, 2024. Remarkably, Puig continued to play for over 30 minutes post-injury, even providing the decisive assist for Dejan Joveljić's 85th-minute goal, securing a 1-0 victory for the Galaxy.

An MRI conducted on December 1 confirmed the ACL tear, leading to Puig's absence from the MLS Cup Final on December 7, where the Galaxy triumphed over the New York Red Bulls to clinch their sixth title. Puig underwent successful surgery on December 11 to repair the ligament.

Recovery from an ACL injury typically spans six to twelve months, depending on the injury's severity and the rehabilitation process. Puig has been transparent about his rehabilitation, sharing images of his knee post-surgery to highlight the realities of recovery.

Throughout his recovery, Puig has received significant support from teammates and fans. During the MLS Cup Final, club legend Landon Donovan carried the trophy wearing Puig's jersey, and teammate Joseph Paintsil dedicated a goal to him, underscoring his importance to the team.
