Keylor Navas, the esteemed Costa Rican goalkeeper renowned for his tenure at Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has officially joined Argentina's Newell's Old Boys. The Rosario-based club announced the signing on January 21, 2025, welcoming Navas as their new goalkeeper.
At 38, Navas brings a wealth of experience to Newell's Old Boys. His illustrious career includes three UEFA Champions League titles with Real Madrid and multiple domestic trophies with PSG. Despite being without a club for the past six months, his addition is anticipated to significantly bolster Newell's defensive lineup.

Navas is expected to arrive in Rosario within the next 48 hours to undergo a medical examination and finalize a one-year contract, with an option for extension based on mutual agreement. This move follows Newell's proactive efforts to strengthen their squad after a challenging 2024 season, where they finished 25th out of 28 teams in the Liga Profesional Argentina.

Head coach Mariano Soso expressed enthusiasm about Navas's arrival, stating, "Keylor is a player who could elevate the position. I spoke with Navas, I fully explained the game model and his role within the team."

Navas's signing is part of Newell's broader strategy to enhance team performance, which also includes the recent acquisition of midfielder Éver Banega. The club aims to improve its standing in the upcoming season, with Navas's vast experience and leadership expected to play a pivotal role in achieving this objective.
