Omar Marmoush bid an emotional farewell to Eintracht Frankfurt fans on January 17, 2025, following the team’s impressive 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Deutsche Bank Park.
Although Marmoush was not part of the matchday squad due to ongoing transfer negotiations with Manchester City, the Egyptian striker joined his teammates on the field post-match to say goodbye to the supporters who have celebrated his success this season.
The 25-year-old has been a pivotal figure for Eintracht, contributing 20 goals and 14 assists this season. His move to Manchester City is reportedly valued at €75 million, with an additional €5 million in bonuses.
Head coach Dino Toppmöller, midfielder Mario Götze, and sporting director Markus Krösche expressed their gratitude for Marmoush’s contributions, highlighting his impact on and off the pitch. Goalkeeper Kevin Trapp also praised Marmoush’s influence, humorously noting his role as the team’s locker room DJ.
Marmoush’s final performance for Eintracht came during a 4-1 win over Freiburg, where he delivered a stellar display with one goal and two assists. As Eintracht Frankfurt moves forward, potential successors such as Arnaud Kalimuendo and Mathys Tel are being considered to fill the void left by their top scorer.
The victory over Borussia Dortmund, secured through goals from Hugo Ekitike and Oscar Hojlund, cemented Eintracht’s position in third place in the Bundesliga standings, while Dortmund’s struggles continued as they dropped to tenth. Marmoush’s departure marks the end of an era for Eintracht Frankfurt, as the club prepares to build on its strong league campaign.
