AC Milan's captain, Davide Calabria, has departed the club with immediate effect to join Bologna on a permanent transfer. The two clubs have agreed upon a compensation fee of approximately €2 million for the early termination of Calabria's contract, which was set to expire on June 30.
Calabria, a product of AC Milan's youth academy, made his first-team debut on May 30, 2015, against Atalanta. Over his tenure, he amassed 272 appearances, contributing 10 goals. He was instrumental in securing the Serie A title in the 2021-2022 season and the Italian Super Cup in 2025.
Upon leaving Milanello, Calabria was visibly emotional, stating, "It's difficult; I'll miss everything, everything I've experienced here. I'll always carry every memory I have with me; I'm grateful for what I've experienced at Milan."
AC Milan does not plan to seek a direct replacement for Calabria. The club intends to rely on recent acquisitions Kyle Walker and Emerson Royal to fill the right-back position.
