The 24-year-old midfielder appeared to hurt his knee after an awkward collision with the ground while attempting to strike the ball. Immediate medical attention was required, and the match was halted for approximately four minutes as Ndiaye received treatment.
In tears, he was consoled by his teammates, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure, as he left the pitch. Jack Harrison came on as his replacement 25 minutes into the game.
The match itself finished in a 1-1 draw after first half. Everton's Beto opened the scoring early, only for Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister to equalize with a superb header. This fixture also marked the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park, as Everton prepares to move to their new £760 million Bramley Moore Dock stadium next season.
