Hansi Flick Confirms Wojciech Szczęsny as Barcelona’s First-Choice Goalkeeper, Emphasizing Team-First Decision-Making

FC Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, has officially designated Wojciech Szczęsny as the team's primary goalkeeper, superseding Iñaki Peña. This decision comes after careful consideration of the team's overall performance and needs.

"It's not just about Iñaki or Szczęsny, but about the whole team," Flick emphasized. "We always make decisions that are in the best interest of the team, and that is the approach I want to follow."

Szczęsny, who joined Barcelona in October 2024 following Marc-André ter Stegen's season-ending injury, has been adapting to the team's style of play. He acknowledged the challenges, noting, "The communication on the field is complicated because the defense is very advanced." 

Despite some initial challenges, including conceding eight goals in six matches and a save percentage of 60%, Flick has expressed confidence in Szczęsny's abilities. The coach believes that the Polish goalkeeper's experience and personality will be valuable assets as the team navigates the remainder of the season.
