Initially, Tottenham had agreed to a €60 million permanent transfer for Tel. However, the player was hesitant about committing to a permanent move at this stage. Consequently, negotiations shifted towards a loan arrangement, providing both parties with flexibility.
Tel had previously declined Tottenham's offer, despite personal negotiations involving Spurs chairman Daniel Levy in Munich. However, a personal call from Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou convinced Tel to reconsider and join the club.
This acquisition comes at a crucial time for Tottenham, as the team is currently dealing with numerous injuries, with nine first-team players sidelined. Tel's addition is expected to bolster their attacking options as they aim to improve their standing in the Premier League, where they currently sit 14th.
Mathys Tel, who joined Bayern Munich in July 2022, has shown promise during his tenure with the German champions. His versatility and attacking prowess are anticipated to be valuable assets for Tottenham in the coming months.
