Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an update on Gabriel Martinelli's condition following the team's recent Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg defeat to Newcastle United. Martinelli was forced to leave the match in the 37th minute due to discomfort in his hamstring.
Arteta stated, "Gabriel Martinelli felt something; it was his hamstring, and he wasn't comfortable to continue. So, we will have to have an MRI scan tomorrow to see the extent of the injury."
This development adds to Arsenal's growing list of injury concerns. Key players such as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are already sidelined with significant injuries. Saka underwent hamstring surgery in December and is expected to be out until at least March, while Jesus is recovering from an ACL injury sustained last month.
The timing of Martinelli's injury is particularly challenging, coming just days after the closure of the transfer window during which Arsenal did not secure any new signings. This leaves the team with limited attacking options as they continue their campaign.
Arsenal will be hoping for a favorable outcome from Martinelli's upcoming MRI scan as they prepare for the remainder of the season.
