Nico González is set to complete a move to Manchester City after the Premier League champions reached an agreement with FC Porto to activate his €60 million release clause. The 22-year-old midfielder is expected to travel to Manchester for a medical and finalize personal terms before the deal is officially announced.
González, a product of FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy, joined Porto in July 2023 and has impressed with his versatility, operating in defensive, central, and attacking midfield roles. His arrival at City comes as a crucial addition following a long-term injury to Rodri, leaving Pep Guardiola keen to reinforce his midfield options.
The deal also benefits Barcelona, who will receive 40% of the transfer fee—approximately €24 million—due to a sell-on clause included in González’s move to Porto. The signing highlights City's intent to strengthen their squad as the transfer window nears its closure.
