Pau Cubarsí has officially extended his contract with FC Barcelona, committing to the club until June 30, 2029. The agreement was formalized today in the presence of club president Joan Laporta, first vice-president Rafa Yuste, and director of football Deco.
The 18-year-old central defender, who joined Barcelona’s youth academy from Girona in 2018, has rapidly developed into a key figure for the first team. Since making his senior debut in January 2024, Cubarsí has made 60 appearances, with 52 of them as a starter. His composure on the ball and tactical intelligence have drawn comparisons to Barcelona legend Gerard Piqué.
Cubarsí expressed his gratitude following the contract renewal, stating, “El Barça me lo ha dado todo” ("Barça has given me everything"). The club has set his release clause at €500 million, a clear indication of their confidence in his potential and their determination to fend off interest from other clubs.
This extension reinforces Barcelona’s commitment to developing homegrown talent, following similar renewals for Ronald Araujo, Pedri, and Gavi. The young defender is expected to play a crucial role in the club’s future as they continue their long-term project under manager Xavi Hernández.
