FC Barcelona delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Girona FC in the Catalan derby on March 30, 2025, at the Estadi OlÃmpic LluÃs Companys.
It was learnt that this win propels Barcelona to the top of LaLiga, three points ahead of Real Madrid.
Hansi Flick Barcelona started the game in asserting dominance, and they took the lead in the first half when Girona's Ladislav Krejci inadvertently scored an own goal while attempting to clear a free-kick delivered by Lamine Yamal.
Meanwhile Girona responded early in the second half with an equalizer from Arnaut Danjuma.
However, Barcelona quickly regained control as Robert Lewandowski showcased his striking prowess by netting two goals in the second half, bringing his season tally to 25 and solidifying his position as the league's top scorer.
Barcelona showed their class in the match with Ferran Torres added a fourth goal late in the match, sealing the comprehensive win for Barcelona.
Apparently, this victory extends Barcelona's unbeaten streak in 2025, with 17 wins and three draws, their last defeat dating back to December 2024.
On the other hand, Girona remains seven points above the relegation zone but has not secured a win since early February.
