Myles Lewis-Skelly found himself at the center of controversy during Arsenal’s dominant 7-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. The 18-year-old defender was booked in the 24th minute for a foul on Luuk de Jong and later committed another challenge on Richard Ledezma, which many believed warranted a second yellow card. However, the referee opted against issuing another caution, allowing Lewis-Skelly to remain on the pitch.
Recognizing the risk of playing with a defender on a caution, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta made a decisive move, substituting Lewis-Skelly in the 34th minute and bringing on Riccardo Calafiori to maintain defensive stability.
Despite the early scare, Arsenal delivered an outstanding performance, with captain Martin Ødegaard leading the charge by scoring twice. Leandro Trossard, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, and Riccardo Calafiori also found the net in an emphatic win. PSV’s only goal came from Noa Lang, who converted a penalty.
This resounding victory puts Arsenal in a strong position for the second leg at the Emirates Stadium, with the team now aiming for a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals.
