Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that key players Ronald Araujo and Raphinha will not be available for the upcoming LaLiga clash against Osasuna. This decision comes due to the players' insufficient recovery time after their international duties. The match, which had been postponed following the passing of the club's doctor Carles Minarro Garcia, is now rescheduled for March 27.
Both Araujo and Raphinha participated in World Cup qualifiers for Uruguay and Brazil, respectively. With their long travel schedules and limited rest, Flick has decided to leave them out of the squad to ensure they have adequate time to recover. He remarked, “They have a long flight and need time to recuperate.”
In their absence, Flick has confirmed that central defenders Eric Garcia and Inigo Martinez will start in the upcoming match against Osasuna. Expressing his concerns over the scheduling, Flick highlighted the lack of rest for players returning from international duty, contrasting this with other leagues that manage their calendars differently for clubs involved in the Champions League.
Despite these challenges, Flick remains confident in his team's ability to perform, stating, “The team is fantastic, and we have to fight for the three points.”
Barcelona's focus remains on securing the LaLiga title as they continue to compete for the top spot. The match against Osasuna will take place on March 27 at the Montjuïc Stadium.
