Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has spoken ahead of the team's upcoming Europa League quarter-final tie against Olympique Lyonnais, addressing both the challenge posed by the French side and recent remarks made by former United midfielder Nemanja Matic.
Onana, who has come under scrutiny following his comments about Lyon, maintained a respectful tone towards the opposition. “I would never be disrespectful to another club. We know that tomorrow will be a difficult game against a strong opponent,” he stated.
Looking ahead to the match, he reaffirmed the team’s commitment to delivering a positive performance. “We focus on preparing a performance to make our fans proud,” he added.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper also appeared to respond to criticism from Matic, who reportedly questioned his contributions to the club. Onana, who won the EFL Cup with Manchester United, responded confidently: “At least I’ve lifted trophies with the greatest club in the world. Some can’t say the same.”
